The Automundo 2026 fair, described as Ecuador's largest new vehicle fair, is taking place in Quito from October 15 to 18 at the Centro de Convenciones Metropolitano Bicentenario in Parque Bicentenario. The event features more than 50 automotive brands and over 300 vehicle models.

Ecuador's automotive industry recorded a historical sales volume of 123,927 vehicles up to September. Genaro Baldeón, executive president of the Association of Automotive Companies of Ecuador (Aeade), attributed this to an injection of liquidity through vehicle credits.

Financing options at Automundo include offers with 0% down payment and interest rates below 10%. Banco Guayaquil provides rates from 12.50%, with 0% down payment and up to 84 months for repayment. Produbanco offers credits starting from 9.99% interest, with a minimum 10% down payment and up to 84 months. For hybrid and electric vehicles, Produbanco's rates start from 12.99%. Banco Capital offers rates from 11.99% and terms up to 72 months, with an initial payment from 17% of the vehicle's value. The Cooperativa de Ahorro y Crédito Jeep has a consumer credit interest rate of 15.6%. Financial entities report that average vehicle loan amounts requested range between $15,000 and $25,000.

Programmed purchase options are also available, such as through Condelpi, which allows clients to make monthly contributions over 24 to 72 months to acquire a car, with an administrative fee of 2.9%.

Interest in electrified vehicles is evident, with 23,546 hybrid vehicles sold between January and September 2026, an 81% increase from the 13,010 units sold in the same period of 2025. Electric vehicle sales increased from 2,694 to 10,073 units. MG Motor is presenting four electrified models, including two hybrids and two 100% electric vehicles, with prices ranging from USD 18,990 to USD 61,990. The MG3 Hybrid is a compact hybrid car, and the Cyberster, a 100% electric convertible sports car, starts at USD 61,990.

What to watch

Monitor the impact of diverse financing options on continued vehicle sales growth. Observe the sustained increase in hybrid and electric vehicle adoption, which may indicate a shift in consumer preferences and market demand within Ecuador's automotive sector.
