Ecuador Antitrust Regulator Approves Alicorp Acquisition of Florafood

Chip MorenoChip Moreno||Source: primicias.ec

Ecuador's Superintendencia de Competencia Económica (SCE) has approved the acquisition of Florafood Ecuador by Alicorp Holdco España.

The regulator determined that the acquisition will not harm the domestic margarine market or restrict other competitors in Ecuador.

According to the resolution, the transaction will not create a dominant market position or distort prices or the supply of inputs for the local food industry. The regulator concluded that sufficient alternatives exist in the Ecuadorian market.

Alicorp Holdco España and Industrias del Espino S.A. are both part of Grupo Alicorp.

What to watch

The decision is available for public consultation on the regulator's website.
