Petroecuador Awards 950,000-Barrel Fuel Oil Sale To Trafigura

Petroecuador has awarded an international sale of Fuel Oil No. 6 to Trafigura PTE, adding an estimated USD 63 million in state revenue.

The award, dated July 3, 2026, covers 950,000 barrels, plus or minus 10%, of Fuel Oil No. 6. Petroecuador said the product is a heavy fuel used for industrial combustion and large-vessel supply.

Terms

The product will move in five cargoes of 190,000 barrels, plus or minus 10%, each.

Estimated revenue is USD 63 million. The sale used the USGC HSFO international marker with a USD -5.25 per-barrel differential.

The mix is produced at the Esmeraldas refinery from base fuel oil and diesel oil.

Competitive Field

Petroecuador said it received five valid offers: GreyRock, Petrochina, Trafigura, Voldge International Inc., and Freepoint Commodities LLC.

For buyers and logistics operators, the relevant signal is that Ecuador is placing heavy fuel into an international tender structure with named commodity-market participants.
