Novacero Targets 2027 Start for Two Hydroelectric Projects
Steel producer Novacero is leading plans for two hydroelectric plants in Ecuador that could begin construction in 2027, according to El Universo. Together, the projects would have approximately 100 megawatts of generating capacity.
Novacero holds a majority stake in the planned plants and is working with local partners and specialists. Company president Ramiro Garzón said one plant is planned between Pichincha and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, while the other would be near Cañar in southern Ecuador.
Separately, the government changed electricity-sector regulations on September 30, 2026, seeking to provide greater certainty over payment priority for prospective investors, according to Primicias.
