Campo Amistad Adds 3M Cubic Feet per Day, Lifting Gas Output to 27.6M Cubic Feet
Petroecuador has raised output at Campo Amistad, Ecuador's offshore natural-gas field in the Gulf of Guayaquil.
Production Increase
Primicias reports that work on the Amistad 7 well increased daily natural-gas production by 3 million cubic feet, taking total production to 27.6 million cubic feet.
The Ministry of Environment and Energy reported the work on May 19, 2026, as part of a second campaign to recondition wells at Campo Amistad.
Well Program
Petroecuador is using a specialized offshore intervention structure known as a Jack Up. Primicias reports that the platform is being used for reconditioning work designed to recover well operability, increase productivity and extend useful life.
After Amistad 7, Petroecuador plans to intervene Amistad 8, 14 and 9 as part of the same campaign.
Incremental Output
| Stage | Daily gas output |
|---|---|
| Before first campaign | 17.3 million cubic feet |
| After first campaign | 24.6 million cubic feet |
| After Amistad 7 work | 27.6 million cubic feet |
Primicias reports that the two campaigns establish a consolidated net increase of 10.3 million cubic feet of natural gas.
The total natural-gas output is destined for the industrial sector and Termogas Machala for electricity generation.
What to watch
- Execution timing for Amistad 8, 14 and 9.
- Whether output gains are sustained after reconditioning.
- Impact on Termogas Machala fuel supply and thermal-generation availability.
- Petroecuador's update on its plan to double Campo Amistad production by September 2026.
